I’ve been trying to find a job since November 2018 because Canada does not offer Caregiver Support, exclusively.
What I mean is: if you are collecting Unemployment Insurance Premiums, thus unemployed. Your benefits run out at a year. Period.
I had been led to believe by the social worker assigned to my husband, during recovery, under Dr Li Pi Chan at the Foothills Medical Centre, who continues to monitor these days, still — that I would qualify for Caregiver benefits, even assisting with completing the forms with appropriate signatures.
Only to discover it was an either or situation, with a time limit of a year.
HH saw Dr LiPiChan a week ago, and a couple others today, asking where I was?
HH loves to tell them I’ve driving around the compass all “pissy” because he won’t let me park and go in with him.
It is frustrating.
Then again, so are the astronomical costs to park there. How many visitors stay or go with patients that go with their loved one, as partners in care? Very involved with therapy participation. Yes, brain injured husbands do like to show off, still.

It is a skill that I have utilized multiple times throughout my career, in particular, in Document Management, which is rarely considered falling under the IT umbrella, yet is very technical, time sensitive, and critical to the customer or organization.
*Central key contact/document/estimator project manager with design/tender/build documents (drawings and specifications) on major capital projects i.e. Fish Creek Recreation Center, Library, High School, Ice Arena, YMCA – joint venture by Calgary Catholic School District, City of Calgary, Fish Creek Residents’ Association, YMCA, Calgary.
*Manager/Contributor on regulatory submissions for TransCanada Pipelines’ Keystone Pipelines (assembling client requirements, technical requirements, software on file submission, proofing, purchasing binders, tabs, assigning project personnel on digital workflow, printing, assembly and distribution. Other similar projects for Devon, VECO Engineering, Alliance Pipeline, Komex International (now Worley Parsons) etc.
*Senior Project Manager for Global Legal Document Contract; managed/oversaw the scanning and forwarding to Washington, DC, all documentations for securities purposes on the merger of Mobil and Exxon completed within 72 hours with 24 hr notice. Responsibilities included sign off as designated representative on confidentiality, ordered/assembly additional equipment, oversaw personnel/scheduling, meeting the Washington, DC, lead lawyer and team of paralegals who pulled files that were escorted by me to the secure print premises I set up in 12 hours for the print, scan, QC, and return Mobil Oil in exact place pulled from; communications with Mobil Senior Counsel, DC Lawyer, Paralegals, senior personnel in charge of the North American deployment of this multimillion dollar project. I was on call throughout the project 72 hour cycle and worked 36 hrs straight before a break.
*Security and financial printing from global organizations — one in particular, as senior manager, with same day action required: communication with U.K. financial executives, legal teams in both UK and Canada, print executive in UK to receive electronic file on Friday, print in Calgary and Toronto (file transfer from our operation to Toronto) and distribute to distribution house within 48 hrs.
As the Branch Manager for a sign division, I worked alongside a business analyst from EnCana who was tasked with inventorying the entire signage & stickers inventory that was a simultaneously required for a) change of name from EnCana to Cenovas, and
b) amalgamate all signage, stickers and warehouse same at branch to eliminate storage requirements at EnCana in preparation for its move to its new building The Bow, in Calgary. i.e. Stickers for Service, Safety awards or stickers for course compliance for Employee manuals (instead of reprinting every new orientation or update sessions) or for employee helmets; Caution or Danger stickers or signs at client sited as warnings; golf sponsorship signs, and even printed banners for sponsorship of EnCana for youth or charity causes (one in particular was for the boards in Arenas).
*Launched the inflight magazine for Jetsgo Airlines. This included proposal, presentations to Jetsgo executives in Montreal, then PR Firm in Toronto; collaborating with Jetsgo’s Ad Agency Creative Director on image; set editorial outline for a year in advance; set advertising rates for National and Ad Agencies; hired contract Ad Agents in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, New York; coordinated the design, assembly, proofing, printing and distribution at Calgary Airport for deployment to Toronto for magazines to be placed on board by third party, all under specific deadlines to coincide with National advertiser’s ad placement. Designated Associate Publisher: signed contracts, owned relationship, represented Jetsgo with Partner executives from i.e. Telus, Choice Hotels, etc.
